At Nambour Radiology our highly-skilled radiographers, provide a full range of CT BMD scans to assist in your treatment. Using state of the art systems, our expert team can provide important information about bone strength, bone fragility and the risk of bone fractures or breaks.
How does it work?
An extremely low dose CT scan is performed of your lower back and leg. The information collected is then used by your medical team to measure bone health and any risk factors. The procedure is quick and non-invasive.
How to Prepare
To prepare for your CT BMD you may be required to remove any ear and facial piercings, as well as eye glasses and neck jewellery. The CT BMD is a non-invasive procedure and there is no discomfort.
What to expect?
You will be asked to lie on a bed during the scan. However, if you’re prevented from doing this we will scan your forearm. The scan itself, takes around 15 minutes
If you have any questions regarding your CT BMD your radiologist will be happy to talk you through the process, or alternatively you can call our team prior to your appointment to discuss any concerns.
